Our Objectives
- To become the peak body representing the multicultural communities.
- To raise awareness of fundamental social, educational and cultural issues of multicultural communities.
- To provide a place for the community to foster the values of harmony, inclusion and peace through educational, cultural, and sporting activities.
- To enable youth engagement in multicultural affairs, services and activities and decision-making processes and tackle youth related issues.
- To address social and economic needs of young people who are at risk due to their experiences of torture and/or trauma in the context of refugee journey, and are unable to have these needs met by their families due to poverty, helplessness, isolation and psychological health problems caused by exposure to trauma.
- To empower the role of Afghan women and Women from multicultural backgrounds through educational, social and cultural support services.
- To develop and support social support groups for widows and other needy refugee women who are suffering from isolation, distress and physical and mental health problems caused by exposure to trauma and difficulties settling in Australia.
- To establish an Islamic community centre for youth, cultural and social and religious activities.
- To establish a community centre to enable more effective provision of direct relief and information to those who, due to their helplessness and isolation, are unable to access this information through usual, everyday means.
- To set up a public library for the benefit of the members and the general public.
- To provide the platform for collaboration and networking for individuals, community organisations and governments.
- To advocate for the rights of refugees, asylum seekers, and people of multicultural backgrounds in political, social, cultural and religious issues.
- To assist in settlement of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers through advocacy, assistance and collaboration and to provide material assistance to newly arrived refugees and migrants to relieve poverty and suffering caused by traumatic refugee experiences.
- To strengthen, build up and contribute to the identity, self-esteem, and sense of purpose and culture of all members of the community, particularly youth and people from CALD backgrounds.
- To create unity and spirit of brotherhood among its members and the wider community through cross-cultural initiatives and activities.
- To help disadvantaged and marginalised members of the society reach their full potential by helping their financial, educational, social and cultural endeavours.
- To assist and help alleviate poverty, distress, destitution, sickness, disability, when possible, within Afghan families and the wider communities.
- To act as consultants to all community groups to help them establish themselves and provide information and support.
- To facilitate and organise multicultural events promoting harmony, peace and unity within the communities.
- To support the Afghan elders and the elders of wider communities by educational, social and cultural activities
- To establish nursing homes for the elderly and acquire an Islamic Cemetery.
- To provide direct material aid for orphans.
- To alleviate short-term and long-term homelessness from the communities by providing food, shelter, and sustainable solutions.
- To address the issue of mental health amongst men, women and youth of diaspora and other communities and assist them through health and other services.
- To empower and encourage independence in members and general community, so that they are better aware of various life choices and gain greater control over their lives.
- To initiate and engage in social research with practical application in improving the quality of life within the communities.
